Interior Architecture is Not Just About Rendering
A serious misconception about the profession of interior architecture is increasingly being expressed today: Anyone with access to visualization tools and rendering programs can produce a few "images." However, let us not forget that true interior architecture is not merely about a rendering or the aesthetic of a design visible on the surface. Reducing the profession to a "rendered image" by pressing the render button is the greatest disrespect to interior architects who have spent years training in this field, mastering the details, and being equipped in every aspect of the profession.
Interior architecture is a profound area of expertise that requires multidimensional thinking, producing functional solutions, and offering the best quality of life to the users of the space. Every stage of the design process contains meticulously thought-out details, building systems, lighting, acoustics, ergonomics, material knowledge, and technical solutions tailored to the needs of the space. Those who think they are "designing" just by taking renders are individuals who fail to grasp the essence of our profession. A render is merely a presentation tool for the created design; it is a surface added at the end of the process. True interior architecture is the accumulation of all that detailed thought and knowledge that lies behind that surface.
Turning a space into a "living" environment requires much more than presenting a visual appeal for the eyes. Interior architects not only shape the aesthetic of a space but also consider the functionality of the space, its suitability to the user's needs, and its physical comfort. Interior architecture does not exist through a simple visual arrangement; it comes to life through careful work on every detail of the space. The idea that anyone with a rendering program in hand is an interior architect disregards the labor-intensive nature of the profession and the real expertise required.
Today, people from all walks of life are captivated by the allure of shiny renders they see on their screens and interpret interior architecture as merely "creating a beautiful image." This mindset is nothing more than reducing the value of the interior architecture profession to a superficial perspective! A true interior architect responds to the fundamental needs of a space, solves structural details, balances ergonomic and aesthetic elements, and provides comfort to those living in the space. This is a complex process that requires expertise and deep knowledge, which cannot be achieved with just a render.
Anyone can take a render, but they cannot be an interior architect! Interior architecture is the art of creating livable spaces through functional, detailed, and user-centered solutions, not just a visual presentation tool. Taking a render is only the final step; to think of this profession as being limited to rendering is to ignore the deep knowledge and effort that shapes the true essence of interior architecture.
In short, interior architecture is a profession that cannot be confined to a render, a profession that encompasses much more. This profession requires expertise in every detail, and reducing it to a surface-level judgment based on a render is a great misconception. Interior architecture is truly a profession of expertise and effort – never forget that!
